Coming up for air...

Well, I'm done with another class in my pursuit of my Bachelor's degree! Whoo-Hoo!
About 8 more to go. I took my last week's vacation for the week of Thanksgiving. Two days into my 9-day freedom spree, my body rebelled and got sick! So, I was home sick in bed for the rest of the duration. Then Monday rolls around and I'm still not feeling better, so off to the Dr. I go. He said it was "sinusitis" and prescribed an antibiotic. Another day home, and I was released to go back to work.

All I can say is I'm glad I'm feeling better again. And daytime TV gets really old after about 5 days. I really need to plan what I will do in retirement BEFORE I retire! Maybe a part-time job or something to keep me going out of the house and being with other people. Too much alone time is depressing to me.

I'm happy about Christmas coming, but not for any exciting reason. I won't be with my kids or anything. I will most likely be with Thomas' family & in-laws who are all great to be around. I just wish some of my kids lived closer. Doesn't every mom?! Sometimes the 'empty nest' is hard to do. After life being so packed every minute of everyday, it's hard to gear down. Then other times, I really like it - like when I'm tired in the middle of the day and want to lay down to take a nap....I can, and I don't have to get up to do anything for anybody (cook, clean, drive, etc.) That part is wonderful. So, if I keep it all in perspective, I'll be okay and get through another Christmas.

Ben and his girlfriend were great and came to visit us the weekend before Thanksgiving. They had already made plans to be with his girlfriend's family for the holiday, and Ben wanted to be sure to visit us before that, so they drove down for the weekend. I cooked a turkey dinner and a couple of pies. We had a feast on Saturday - it was great. Sunday I had my afternoon class, so had to rush off to that around 11:15am. They hung around until I got home @ 4pm before packing up to make the long drive home. I was so glad they did that. I got to spend a little more time with them, and then say goodbye. Ben's two dogs came too, and they were hilarious. Maggi can jump about 6 feet in the air in 2 seconds. She does it when she's trying to get your attention. I couldn't stop laughing at her one day when she was trying to get Ben's attention. Ben didn't want to let her see him! We laughed so hard over that!

Well, that's all for now from this over-the-hill mom!
